I work with – aspiring – managers on their interaction skills and leadership on an equal level, with empathy and with a clear demarcation of management (tasks)

Supervisory and advisory board activities
I meet the ever-increasing demands on advisory boards and supervisory boards by being able to focus on these activities without having to take on management responsibility elsewhere. This means I can concentrate on advisory and monitoring tasks on all upcoming issues.
Business consulting
The management consultancy, which specializes in law firms of all legal forms, focuses on several key areas to help law firms succeed in an ever-changing environment.
Coaching
The area of coaching includes the personal coaching of individuals and the transfer of the insights gained from this into strategic corporate development. In individual and group sessions, we discuss what is important to the individual or group in their respective situation, what opportunities they see for themselves and would like to use, what skills they would like to develop further, what deficits they would like to work on and what next steps are conceivable and desirable and are viable. We address all of the so-called basic competencies – in the sense coined by Prof. Kilian Mehl – namely:
- Judgment and decision-making ability;
- Determination;
- assertiveness;
- Stress tolerance and ability to suffer;
- Tolerance of ambiguity;
- Empathy and perception;
- appreciation potential;
- communication skills;
- Ability to conflict and reach consensus;
My expertise
Who am I?
As the second child among five siblings, I grew up with values in the Ruhr area. Stays in England and France as a student and graduating from school in the USA taught me to know and appreciate an open world at an early age. Immediately after my time in the armed forces, after studying and completing my legal traineeship in Munich and numerous stays abroad, the master's degree program in Toronto, Canada, enabled me to take my first steps as a common law lawyer before I returned to Germany, Frankfurt, in the late 1980s to set up his first law firm after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
These years were characterized by merger processes, exciting mandates, successes and also failures. As a father of three wonderful adult children and now two adorable grandchildren, I have also learned how important it is to reconcile private and professional goals and ideas. I personally succeeded in this rather inadequately. I think I have learned from these experiences and can pass something on.
Exercising in nature and doing sports with others are just as important to me as dealing with social and socio-political issues, culture and community. Numerous volunteer positions in all of the above areas gave me the opportunity to give back to the communities that have provided me with so many opportunities.
Keeping mind, body and soul healthy and in harmony with each other forms my framework for the future. An active circle of friends and acquaintances as well as a faithful and always loyal (extended) family support this structure enormously.
I am also honored to have been honored with the Interlaw Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of the contributions I have made to the network over the past two decades. > Further information
Philosophy – What approach do I pursue?
You can find out more about me in the video above. In addition, the exciting topic “Is the legal market currently experiencing the biggest disruption since the Internet?” and what impact this development will have on law firms and lawyers. Feel free to take a look.
The potential for human progress today is unparalleled; At the same time, the risks of failure have increased significantly. The legal services industry is facing the biggest disruption in recent decades [here is a reference to my interview]. This creates both enormous opportunities and significant challenges. It is important to take advantage of the opportunities associated with this transformation individually.
Preparing for this and dealing responsibly and constructively with the opportunities that arise gives us the chance to shape our future in a balanced way, to reconcile freedom and responsibility, fulfillment and willingness to perform, humanity and technology
Against this background, I see the following approaches for companies and the individuals who shape them:
This premise leads to the following approaches:
Strategy – How do I proceed?
My strategy for tackling this task is based on a simple and effective approach:
01 Attentive listening
The first step is to listen carefully to fully understand the individual needs and challenges of the people I'm talking to. It is crucial to actively listen and understand what they really want to express, mindfully.
02 Empathic empathy
In order to develop tailor-made solutions together, a change of perspective is required; I try to empathize with the situation and feelings of the people I'm talking to. This allows me to understand their perspective and work with them to develop solutions that are tailored to their specific concerns.
03 Targeted questions
The third step involves asking specific questions in order to ask the right questions. This helps to create clarity about the situation and the goals of my conversation partners. I then work with them to develop practical steps to improve their professional and personal quality of life.
This tried and tested approach has proven to be extremely successful and enables me to act effectively in both management consulting and coaching. She supports individual and tailored care that aims to best meet the specific needs and goals of my clients.
